Tom Cook: Foxy's Fitness for Women sells

The former Foxy's Fitness for Women site on Florida Boulevard just west of Sherwood Forest Boulevard has sold. Troy Daigle of Donnie Jarreau Real Estate brokered the $600,000 sale to Oceans Behavioral Hospital of Baton Rouge, which intends to convert the 12,500-square-foot, two-story building to an Alzheimer's care facility. The sale price calculates to about $48 per square foot. Daigle says the "bones" of the building were in good shape, and renovations are now under way. Foxy's Health and Fitness, which has been operating for 50 years, closed its women's-only location on Florida Boulevard in summer 2007 and relocated to a more modern facility on Old Hammond Highway near Sharp Road.
