Hospital buys ex-fitness club

Oceans Behavioral Hospital of Baton Rouge, a division of Lake Charles-based Oceans Healthcare Group, paid $600,000 for the former Foxy's Fitness for Women location at 11135 Florida Blvd., sales records show.

The seller was Mike Barnett, owner of the Foxy's chain, represented by Troy Daigle of Donnie Jarreau Companies.

Daigle said Oceans Behavioral will convert the 1.6-acre site near Sherwood Forest Boulevard into a small hospital.

A message left with the company Friday morning was not returned.

According to its Web site, Oceans Healthcare provides geriatric services in underserved communities in Louisiana, Texas, Mississippi, Alabama and Arkansas.
