On November 19, 2011 there will be one item on the
ballot statewide (LOUISIANA). This is Amendment #1 --a
constitutional ban on state and municipalities imposing real estate
transfer taxes.
This was unanimously put on the ballot by lawmakers
as a pre-emptive strike against state and/or local governing bodies
from placing transfer taxes on real estate.
It is imperative that you vote "FOR" this amendment which
states: To prohibit the levy of new taxes or fees upon the
sale or transfer of immovable property, including documentary
transaction taxes or fees, or any other tax or fee, by the state or
any of its political subdivisions after November 30, 2011 (November
30, 2011) (Adds Article VII, Section 2.3)
Real estate can not afford to have these type of
taxes so by voting "FOR" this amendment you will no longer have to
worry with your state and local governments placing transfer taxes
on property you sell, donate, or inherit.
